    Congratulate me, won’t you? =D

Now, I need to go Popular bookshop and get a basic driving theory book to study……

    Oh, My Love

The only Ice Blended I drink is the Christmas special drink from Starbucks -

    PEPPERMINT MOCHA FRAPUCCINO!

     9 Nov 023

I almost had it every day during the Christmas season 2 years ago, so imagine how devastated I was when it was not one of the Christmas drinks last Christmas. So happy it’s back again this Christmas!!!! Yipppppeeeeeee!

Flipping through their Christmas pamphlet just makes me feels happy. =) Aren’t you glad that Christmas is round the corner?

Feel like singing “Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle All the Way!” at the top of my lungs!

    I Don’t Like Fruits

Alright, I know many people cannot understand why I don’t like fruits. I mean, there are probably billions of people out there who don’t eat veggies, but fruits? Hello? While veggies are sometimes bitter and hard to chew, fruits are generally sweet, nice-smelling and healthy – what’s not to like?

I really don’t know why. In a buffet line, some people go for the fruits first, but me? 99% chance I won’t even touch any of the fruits by the end of the meal. Fruits are lovely and all, but they somehow don’t appeal to me.

I love durians and I get cravings from time to time, but I don’t binge on them. I only need to eat 3-4 seeds of it, and I’m done. As for the rest of the fruits, I don’t even bother most of the time.

But I have to agree that fruit platters look really pretty and colorful.

    9 Nov 020

I’m happy just looking at them. Forget about the eating. =)

    I’m Sorry, Man United.

Excuse me, but this is not very biblical eh?

    * * *

I happened to catch a glimpse of the match the Man U was playing last night (You know soccer matches bore me, but fate has it that I was looking at the TV screen at that moment), when I saw one of the banners (above) waved by the Man United fans. And so me and my husband had this conversation:

Me: United, then kids, then wife?? In that order?!!!!

    Husband: Hahahahaha…

    Me: Not very biblical right?

Husband: That’s why they are called the devils.

    Me: No wonder.

P/S: Oh Man U fans, please don’t boycott my blog. I was only speaking the truth. >0<

    I Fell

I am a very clumsy person. Not very glam to admit that, but I truly am. I am one of those dimwits who will trip and fall when I was walking along a smooth straight path. For no reason, my foot will give way and I would fall. If I blog about it every time I fall down, you might read at least 52 of such posts every year.

Yesterday I went out to meet some friends, and even before we had lunch, I fell down some stairs. Boy, it was PAINFUL. I rolled down several steps because I missed one of the steps and didn’t get a good footing. It was a miracle by itself that I did not end up with a bloody leg. All I got was very bad bruises. Typically, that just meant that the blood was all gathered under the skin but the skin didn’t break. All because I was wearing a good pair of jeans.

I could still stand up after the fall, though it was really painful. My knee cap especially was bruising badly. But I managed to walk to the restaurant where we had lunch and even spent a few hours chit chatting and taking photos. After lunch, my friends accompanied me to Gleneagles A&E to have a check. {That’s what happens when you have friends in the medical profession – Lilian is a pharmacist. She started rattling about hairline cracks in the bone, fractures, internal bleeding… and I should definitely get an X-ray done} So off we went.

Look what greeted us at the entrance. *heart pain*

     7 Nov 037

I would of course show you my wound, and it actually doesn’t look that serious in this photo. But the swelling was really bad. I won’t show you the side view of my knee just in case you get too shocked by it. Just imagine an ice cream cone on my knee cap. It was that pointed because of the swell. The whole shin area was also numb because of the abrasion, and it remained numb till today. I wondered if I accidentally severed some crucial nerves or something.

    7 Nov 034

My dear friends thought the whole ordeal was funny and insisted that I document a photograph of a very sad me. Frankly, it was just a very common thing that happens to clumsy me all the time, so I am not that excited about it.

    7 Nov 036

Thankfully, the doctor saw my wound and said that it was not so serious and I probably didn’t hurt my bones. He didn’t think an X-ray was necessary unless the swelling doesn’t go down after 3 days.

At the Pharmacy, the nurse was dispensing my medication and my pharmacist friend came over, saw the medication and told the nurse straight in her face, ‘Take those medication back. We will not buy them.’

I stared at her blank-faced. I mean, I come see doctor and don’t buy the medication, then I come for what??

Apparently, those medications are ‘designer drugs’ – they are expensive because of their brand names, and Gleneagles typically dispense such drugs because they earn a higher profit margin from it (most of their patients are expats that’s why?). And since the medications are just painkillers and antiseptic cream which can be purchased from any pharmacy out there for low-end brands at a much lower price, she told me not to take them (which would total up to $60 by the way. And that’s on top of the A&E charges).

In the end, I left the A&E paying the consultation fees, without an X-ray (which is separately chargeable as well!) and without any medication at all!

And the funniest thing was while the swelling was horrendous last night, after putting cold compress on the swell, it went down by 50% immediately. I should have just done that yesterday.

How much does a peace of mind cost, you ask?

    S$80.30

That was how much I paid for my A&E excursion yesterday. =P

    Snipped It All Away!

I’ve kept my long hair for the longest time. I think the last time I cut my hair to a length higher than my shoulder was more than 2 years ago.

I love long hair, so does my hubby. But the hair dropping was getting too much for me. My hair was dry, and dropped truckloads everyday. I was getting paranoid that I was becoming bald!

And so, I snipped it all away during one lunch time, and now it feels a lot lighter! :)

    Good Food Places

There are so many good food places near my hubby and my workplace that our weekly dates have become a time to haunt for interesting and nice places to dine at.

Today we had lunch at this small little cafe called Supreme, and they serve up really yummy chicken cutlets, chicken chops and fish with noodles or rice!

    4 Nov 022

The cafe was almost packed and there was a long queue to order for the food.

     4 Nov 015

The portions are pretty small actually, so it might not be that filling for guys.

    4 Nov 019

    Need I say more? :)

    4 Nov 018

The noodles are quite special. They are soft, pretty much like kway tiao. I think they are handmade noodles. Goes well with the chili sauce.

    4 Nov 017

My chicken cutlet is sooooooo crispy! Yums to the max!

After lunch, we went to have tea at a nice little cafe. I’ve passed by this cafe many times before, but it’s my first time stepping in.

The Hairloom & Caramel Cafe is located in Level 1 of Shaw Towers. It’s a hair salon cum cafe, so it’s actually good for boyfriends or husbands waiting for their girls to get their hair done. =)

I love how they did up the whole place. It was decorated with retro paraphernalia and most of them have a classic British touch to it. Really lovely.

    mouse 001

It is reputedly, the first mouse patented for its leather surface. Yes, the flower portion is actual velvety leather, and the flower graphics are all textured. It is surprisingly light-weight and has a retractable USB port. Best of all, it is affordable and maneuvers very well!

    Ahhh…… How perfect. :)

    Chocolate Biscuits

Motherhood obviously took a toil on my mum, because when I was growing up, I don’t remember my mum as an awesome cook. She was just an average housewife who cooks up the usual dishes for our meals. Nothing too fanciful. Just simple fare most of the time.

Turned out that once she’s shed off the need to mother us, her creative horns started to show. She begun to display her talents in flower arrangements, cushion-making and baking of muffins, cookies, puffs, etc. She can cook and make so many lovely dishes and delicacies that many people look up to her and want to learn from her. She’s even doing bi-weekly cooking lessons in church. It’s amazing how much she’s achieved simply because of her passion in doing all those things.

Today she made chocolate biscuits for us!

Just looking at the molded dough tells you how tasty they will be!

Waiting for the biscuits to be baked in the oven!

The finished product is so super yummy!

    DSC08131

My mum took only 30mins from scratch to produce a whole batch of delicious biscuits, so I asked her for the recipe. It’s incredibly easy, so I’m sharing with all you dear people! Enjoy! =D

    * * * * *

    Ingredients:

    (A) 250g butter/ margarine, 120g castor sugar, 1 egg yolk, 1.5 tsp cocoa powder

    (B) 420g sifted plain flour, 60g chocolate rice

    Decoration:

    Some chocolate chips

    Method:

    1. Put all ingredients A into a mixer and cream till well combined.
    2. Mix in ingredients B and form into a pliable dough, should be as firm as the ear.
    3. Place the dough in between 2 layers of grease-proof paper and roll it to 3mm thick. Cut with different-shaped cookie cutter and arrange the shapes on a greased baking tray. Decorate with chocolate chips.
    4. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 Degrees Celsius for about 15-20 minutes, till lightly brown. Leave to cool before storing.
